Wow, "dark yews" is a great line!

Something so simple, just two words, yet it has more than one layer of meaning.

You should consider that as the opening line, it's wonderful!

Thanks, Alan. I did specify the yews rather than trees in general because of the association with churchyards - maybe a sad note in summer! I felt the humidity coming down onto me from the sky, maybe like this:

the humidity trailing
from clouds to earth
