the sound of nails

on fencewood - a squirrel pours

I agree, and this haiku is excellent!

I rarely see a good haiku when it has a squirrel as part of its subject matter.

Jem has done one of the best haiku I've seen for a long time. I just cannot do a decent haiku with squirrels even though I spent a whole winter with the darned animals. ;-)

And Jem, this is the first time in ages I've seen a good and natural 5/7/5 haiku.

There's nothing strained in the syntax, and the mid middle line hyphen works fine.

Impressive!

all my best,
Alan
